Wildlife Trust Announces New Appointments to Board of Directors
NEW YORK – September 18, 2009 – Wildlife Trust, the conservation organization that empowers local conservation scientists worldwide to protect nature and safeguard ecosystems and human health, announces the appointment of Mr. Oliver Engert and Dr. Samuel Stebbins to its Board of Directors.
Mr. Engert is a Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm. He serves as an advisor to senior client executives in the pharmaceutical, medical devices, and OTC/consumer product industries and is also one of the firm’s merger management leaders. His additional responsibilities include leading the Generics Pharmaceutical Practice in the Americas as well as managing the firm’s support staff in McKinsey’s northeast offices.
Before joining McKinsey, Mr. Engert held leadership positions at CoreStates Financial (commercial banking) in Philadelphia and Huetthig Verlagsgemeinschaft (privately-held scientific publishing) in Heidelberg, Germany. He received his Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania before pursuing his MBA at the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. Mr. Engert is a long-term supporter of Wildlife Trust serving as co-chair of the organization’s Annual International Conservation Awards Gala & Auction in 2008.
Also joining the board is Samuel Stebbins, MD, MPH, Director of the University of Pittsburgh Center for Public Health Preparedness. A graduate of Yale University, Dr. Stebbins completed his medical and public health degrees at the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA, and his residency training in both Family Practice and Preventive Medicine/Public Health at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, OR.
Dr. Stebbins' research projects and interests include influenza spread and prevention, emerging human/animal zoonoses, global climate change, public health systems, the intersection of medicine and public health, and effective communication in times of crisis. He works intensively to educate and train students and professionals in the practical application of public health and medicine to improve the health of populations.
