NEW YORK – August 25, 2016 – EcoHealth Alliance, a non-profit organization working at the intersection of global public health and wildlife conservation, announced the election of Lori Michelin, Vice President, Global Sustainability and Environmental Health and Safety at Colgate-Palmolive Company, to its Board of Directors. For over 40 years, EcoHealth Alliance has led the field of environmental health with the guidance of a diverse Board of Directors that provides cross-disciplinary expertise and strategic direction for the organization.

“EcoHealth Alliance aims to engage corporate stakeholders to advise and provide science-based research to develop long-lasting solutions to address complex environmental issues with its global partners,” said Ellen Shedlarz, Chair of the Board of Directors. “The addition of Lori Michelin to our team will provide an invaluable viewpoint into the success of long-term sustainability goals of a company committed to a healthy world.”

Throughout her career, Lori Michelin has upheld strong, environmentally-conscious values, joining Colgate-Palmolive in 1991 as an Environmental Engineer, and leading their EOHS Audit Program and Environmental Engineering team. Since then, she has taken on more prominent roles at the company, holding leadership positions in operations, factory performance and reliability, capital management, and operations leadership.

Before her engagement with Colgate-Palmolive, Ms. Michelin worked as an Environmental Manager for Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. She received her Master’s of Science in Civil Engineering from Villanova University and holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Pennsylvania State University.

Her dedication to marrying environmentally sustainable practice with business continues outside of her immediate work with Colgate-Palmolive. She is a member of the Closed Loop Fund Advisory Board and the World Resources Institute Corporate Consultative Advisory Board.  She is also a member of the Consumer Goods Forum Sustainability Steering Team, Sustainability 50, The Sustainability Consortium and the Conference Board EHS Leaders Group.

“We are thrilled to welcome Lori Michelin to the EcoHealth Alliance Board of Directors. Her dedication to finding practical, sustainable solutions to nuanced business problems makes her a great addition to our Board.” said Dr. Peter Daszak, President of EcoHealth Alliance.

About EcoHealth Alliance

Building on over 40 years of groundbreaking science, EcoHealth Alliance is a global, nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting wildlife and safeguarding human health from the emergence of disease. The organization develops ways to combat the effects of damaged ecosystems on human and wildlife health.  Using environmental and health data covering the past 60 years, EcoHealth Alliance scientists created the first-ever, global disease hotspots map that identified at-risk regions, to help predict and prevent the next pandemic crisis. That work is the foundation of EcoHealth Alliance’s rigorous, science-based approach, focused at the intersection of the environment, health, and capacity building.  Working in the U.S. and more than 20 countries worldwide, EcoHealth Alliance’s strength is founded on innovations in research, training, global partnerships, and policy initiatives.
