Building Resilience to Biothreats: A Night with EcoHealth Alliance
Event Date
April 4, 2019
As anyone who’s familiar with the devastation caused by recent outbreaks of diseases like Ebola, SARS, Zika, or H1N1 or seen a James Bond movie knows, biological threats present a major threat to global health security. Whether the result of intentional or unintentional release, pathogens can wreak havoc on lives, health systems, and economies.
Join EcoHealth Alliance at the venerable Cosmos Club as we publish “Building Resilience to Biothreats: An Assessment of Unmet Core Global Health Security Needs,” a unique analysis of the global health security system’s uneven attention across the prevent, detect, respond, and recover spectrum. The analysis, researched and written by scientists from EcoHealth Alliance and the World Bank, offers recommendations to address nagging gaps in the priorities of the global community.
EcoHealth Alliance’s scientists will present their findings, and will be joined by HHS Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response Dr. Robert Kadlec to discuss global biothreats and their nexus with domestic health security.
Wine and light fare will be served. RSVP here.
