EcoHealth Alliance Statement Concerning SSCP Comments as Reported by Fox News

April 6, 2024 – EcoHealth Alliance shares the interest of members of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic (SSCP) reported by Fox News on Thursday (https://www.foxnews.com/politics/covid-origins-ecohealth-alliance-president-testify-publicly-congress-next-month) in ensuring that reporting requirements on Federal grants are met so that grantee organizations are held accountable to the American people. This is precisely why EHA has cooperated fully with all inquiries into our use of Federal funds to carry out our mission to reduce the threat of future outbreaks, and prevent future pandemics.

We note that the HHS Office of the Inspector General (OIG), in its audit of EHA’s and NIH’s grant oversight and compliance, did not find significant issues and summarized its findings as follows: “EcoHealth had steps in place to conduct risk assessments of its subrecipients, and also had standardized checklists to document routine monitoring of its subrecipients.” The NIH’s Division of Financial Advisory Services subsequently informed EHA that all of the findings of the HHS OIG audit have now been resolved, indicating that EHA is fully in compliance. We look forward to the hearing on May 1, when we will have an opportunity to clarify misunderstandings about EHA’s reporting on its Federal grants.
