Program Coordinator

EcoHealth Alliance is seeking an organized, self-motivated, and enthusiastic Program Coordinator to primarily support a USAID-funded West African conservation project as well as other projects that encompass One Health globally and other hotspots of emerging infectious diseases.


This position requires expertise in project management, monitoring and evaluation, and organizational sustainability. Academic training and/or experience in ecology, environmental sciences, environmental policy, international conservation, or a related field is a plus. The candidate should have a demonstrable track record of coordinating large international US-government-funded projects, as well as planning, developing, managing, and reporting on activity monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities.


The candidate should have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, and be comfortable interfacing regularly with colleagues from academic institutions, civil society organizations, and governments from various geographic and cultural backgrounds. The position will require occasional international travel for event coordination, meetings, and other fieldwork. Responsibilities for this position include coordinating meetings with various project partners across several time zones; working with EcoHealth Alliance project staff and other partners to ensure all project and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved; drafting reports; working with finance teams to monitor project spending and adapting budgets as needed; tracking partner contracts and invoicing and monitoring changes in scope of work; developing activity monitoring, evaluation, and learning plans, presentations, and drafting manuscripts and reports; coordinating activities such as travel, workshops and webinars; liaising with US-government and other funding agencies as needed; assisting with the collection, cleaning, and analysis of survey data; and providing other administrative and scientific support for projects and project staff as needed.


This position is based at EcoHealth Alliance’s headquarters in New York City. Domestic and international
travel will be required but will be evaluated based upon business need and staff safety.



  • Provide administrative support for Conservation and Health Team programs, including contract preparation, budget tracking, credit card and expense reporting, and meeting scheduling.
  • Arrange travel for project personnel.
  • Plan and coordinate new activities including workshops, technical trainings, and webinars.
  • Track and ensure compliance with project requirements as determined by contracts.
  • Schedule team meetings, draft meeting agendas, and take meeting minutes.


Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Communicate with project partners to track project activities and obtain regular updates.
  • Draft and submit reports, presentations, activity monitoring, evaluation, and learning plans, and manuscripts, including quarterly-annual reports, annual reports, and work closely with EcoHealth Alliance and partner finance and administrative teams to track and report on budgets and programmatic expenses.



  • Regularly communicate with diverse international collaborators, including scientists, government officials, and other stakeholders in a professional, friendly, and culturally-competent manner.
  • Assist with the collection, cleaning, and analysis of survey and other research data.
  • Review and synthesize assessment, planning, and policy documents.


  • Interest and experience in conservation, emerging infectious diseases, One Health, and Global Health.
  • MPH, MSc, or related academic training or comparable work experience in environmental or conservation science or related fields.
  • Experience developing and managing activity monitoring, evaluation, and learning plans and tracking systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work comfortably with data collation and cleaning.
  • Experience with scientific research; application of quantitative or statistical methods preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work comfortably, professionally, and proactively on dynamic projects with colleagues from several countries and institutions.
  • Experience working with multi-year, collaborative, international projects.
  • Willingness to adjust working schedule according to international time zones.
  • Cultural sensitivity, strong oral and written communication skills, and fluency in English required.
  • Must be self-driven and highly motivated, organized, and willing to perform research, programmatic, and administrative duties.


  • Experience managing multi-year, US-government-funded international projects
  • Experience working on conservation and/or health projects in West Africa.
  • Strong writing, information synthesis, and policy analysis skills.
