Research Assistant

EcoHealth Alliance is seeking a research assistant to work closely with our research science team to help ensure the smooth planning, development, and execution of projects on emerging infectious diseases. This position is ideal for a recent MS or MPH graduate with strong writing and analytical skills, an interest in emerging infectious disease, and who wants to work in an exciting NGO that runs international programs. Responsibilities will involve collection of data from literature, some data analysis, drafting manuscripts, grants, and reports, preparing presentations and some administrative functions related to specific projects. Facility with communicating scientific research to a more general audience is required. The Research Assistant will be expected to participate in regular meetings and support key EcoHealth Alliance research and surveillance projects including current work in Malaysia, Bangladesh, and India. The position will involve close collaboration with other EcoHealth Alliance scientists at our headquarters in New York City as well as with our international collaborators. Some travel may be required. 
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
 
+ Provide research and administrative support to the Vice President for Science and Outreach; 
+ Collaborate with EcoHealth Alliance partners and associates - and maintain communication as necessary in assistance with grant management and administrative support for projects; 
+ Liaise with EcoHealth Alliance scientists to assist with development of scientific research projects and data analysis 
+ Assist with the development of new projects related to EcoHealth Alliance programs on pandemic prevention; 
+ Assist with drafting grant applications, reports, contracts, MOU/MOAs, revisions, and follow-up with invoicing, payments and accounting reports once projects are operational; 
+ Take minutes and generate draft agendas during relevant meetings. 
 
OTHER DUTIES: 
 
+ Serve as a spokesperson for EcoHealth Alliance at conferences, scientific and public meetings, in the media, and through lectures. 
+ Assist with writing high quality scientific manuscripts for publication and reports (technical and general for the lay public); 
+ Assist Science, Research, and Development teams in investigating and applying for funding; 
+ Occasionally assist with outreach to donors, potential collaborators, and other institutions; 
+ Manage personal EcoHealth Alliance time sheets and credit card reports; 
+ Participate in other projects and tasks as required or assigned by supervisor. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 
 
+ Masters of Science in Life Science or a Masters of Public Health. 
+ Experience with projects supported by federal funding at non-profit, research, or academic institutions; proposal preparation; and project reporting. 
+ Experience working on health, policy, or other research projects. 
+ Quantitative and database skills preferred. 
+ Strong organizational and writing skills. 
+ Excellent communication and analytical skills. 
+ Fluency in spoken and written English.
